The Power of Affirmations

For Customer Service Reps, Soft Life Seekers, and Anyone Who Needs a Reminder

Affirmations used to make me cringe a little. I thought they had to be super spiritual or overly cheesy, and I didn’t think they’d work. But over time, I realized that affirmations are just tiny shifts in the way we speak to ourselves and those tiny shifts actually change how we carry ourselves through the day.

Especially in customer service, where we take in so much energy that isn’t ours.

Affirmations aren’t about pretending everything is fine. They’re about reminding yourself of the truth, especially when your job, or a hard conversation, or your own self-doubt tries to convince you otherwise.

A quick note: I try to write affirmations in the positive. Our brains don’t always process negatives like “don’t stress” or “can’t quit.” Sometimes, all it hears is “stress” or “quit.” So these affirmations focus on what we want to invite in, not what we’re trying to avoid.

How to Use Affirmations

1. Pick One That Hits

Find an affirmation that feels personal to you. Not something forced, just a sentence that feels like support. If it makes you pause, breathe, or exhale a little slower, that’s the one.

2. Say It When You Need It

Repeat it out loud or in your head. On your break, in the car, while waiting for your kettle to boil. You don’t need a ritual, just a moment.

3. Picture It Working

While you say it, imagine yourself living it. You calm. You confident. You walking into a hard conversation and not shrinking. Let the words settle in like they belong to you.

4. Keep It in Reach

The more often you repeat your affirmation, the more natural it will feel. This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about building muscle memory, for your mindset.

5. Make It Visible

Out of sight, out of mind. Put it where you’ll actually see it. I like to write mine on my bathroom mirror, stick it on my computer, or make it my phone wallpaper. If it’s visible, it’s usable.
